Howdy, ya’ll! Welcome to my new blog site. As you can tell by the title, I’ll be sharing news and updates in health and health policy from the great state of Texas and beyond. From time to time, I’ll interview health policy leaders about the issues that impact our healthcare. I plan to focus on people and institutions that are facing our state’s health challenges with innovative approaches.
Why a blog? I am passionate about improving everyone’s access to healthcare; improving quality and reducing disparities. In addition, I am keenly interested in promoting high value care; improving patient and family engagement and increasing practitioner satisfaction.
I am a Board-certified (recertified x 2) internist and a proud Texan. For the last 8 years, I have focused my attention on strengthening primary care through new models like the patient-centered medical home. In the process, I’ve met lots of remarkable people who are making a difference. I will introduce you to them through the blog.
